Cycle For A Cure

My name is Annie Ruddy and I am currently a summer intern at Cloud Gate Consulting. Working at Cloud Gate these passed few weeks has been a great experience. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time and look forward to learning even more as the summer goes on.

This passed weekend I got to participate in a fundraiser raising money for cancer patients, and I'd like to share my experience with you all.

About 7 years ago one of my friends older brothers passed away from leukemia. He was currently a sophomore in high school and had been fighting the cancer for years. After his death a group of parents in the neighborhood came together and created a foundation in his name called the 41 & 9 foundation for Hank. The 41 & 9 foundation puts together multiple events throughout the year raising money for cancer.

This past Saturday the foundation joined together with the Ignite the Spirit foundation, which is a foundation the Chicago Fire Departments has created. About 200 people biked 91 miles to raise money for these foundations. The ride started at Northwestern's Ryan Stadium and ended in Milwaukee WI. I was able to be a part of this awesome event by volunteering and helping out the bikers at each rest station. It was such an amazing experience to be a part of and hope next year I could join the bikers in the 91 mile ride.
